The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Foundation Designated Safeguarding Lead to lead and coordinate safeguarding practices across two schools. This role is central to ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and protection of all students aged 2–18. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping safeguarding policies, providing guidance, and fostering a culture of care and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate safeguarding and child protection practices across the Foundation.
- Manage referrals, investigations, and support Deputy DSLs at each school.
- Deliver training and guidance to staff on safeguarding, wellbeing, and online safety.
- Oversee policies and procedures in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with senior leadership, governors, and external agencies to ensure compliance and best practice.
- Promote a culture of safeguarding and wellbeing throughout the school community.
- Provide expert advice and support in matters related to mental health and Prevent duty.
- Ensure all safeguarding documentation and records are maintained accurately and securely.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a designated safeguarding lead role, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of child protection policies, legal requirements, and safeguarding procedures.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Commitment to the welfare and safety of children and young people.
Preferred
- Experience in a multi-school or foundation setting.
- Training in safeguarding, mental health, or Prevent duty.
- Experience in delivering staff training and development.
- Familiarity with online safety and digital safeguarding practices.
