The Opportunity:

As the Foundation Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students across the school community. This is a strategic position that requires leadership, expertise, and a deep commitment to safeguarding and child protection practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate safeguarding and child protection practices across the school.
  • Manage and oversee all safeguarding referrals and ensure appropriate action is taken.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to staff on safeguarding matters.
  • Deliver training and support to staff to embed a strong safeguarding culture.
  • Oversee policies and procedures related to safeguarding and wellbeing.
  • Support and coordinate Deputy DSLs at each school.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation, including the Prevent duty.
  • Promote and support the mental health and wellbeing of students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Significant experience in safeguarding and child protection.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience working within a school or educational setting.
  • Commitment to promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of online safety and mental health support in educational settings.
  • Experience in delivering training and support to staff on safeguarding matters.
  • Experience with statutory safeguarding requirements and procedures.
