The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic French Teacher - Elementary to join our team and deliver engaging French instruction to students from Senior Kindergarten to Grade 6. This role offers the opportunity to work within a bilingual curriculum that integrates both the Alberta Education and IB PYP frameworks, making a meaningful impact on student language development and cultural awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach French to students in Senior Kindergarten to Grade 6 using a bilingual, inquiry-based approach.
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers to co-teach and support the delivery of the bilingual curriculum.
- Design and implement lesson plans that align with Alberta Education and IB PYP standards.
- Deliver instruction in both French and English, ensuring students achieve fluency and academic success in both languages.
- Monitor student progress and provide targeted support to meet individual learning needs.
- Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives to enhance teaching practices.
- Engage with students, parents, and colleagues to foster a positive and inclusive learning community.
- Maintain accurate records and assessments to support student learning and reporting requirements.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
- Valid teaching certification for the relevant grade level and subject area.
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience at the elementary level.
- Strong knowledge of French language and culture.
- Experience teaching in a bilingual or immersion setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff.
Preferred
- Experience with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).
- Proficiency in both French and English.
- Experience with inquiry-based and student-centered teaching methods.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment design.
