The Opportunity:

A French Teacher is required to join a dynamic and accomplished department that inspires students and fosters a love of language learning. The role offers the opportunity to teach French and potentially German or another language, while contributing to a department known for its academic rigor and innovative teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality French lessons to students across all year groups, including GCSE and A Level.
  • Inspire and challenge students to achieve outstanding academic results and develop a deep appreciation for the French language and culture.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that go beyond the examination specifications to encourage critical thinking and linguistic fluency.
  • Lead and participate in departmental trips and exchanges, including visits to France and involvement in French cultural events.
  • Support the development of the French Society and other extracurricular activities that promote language learning and cultural engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies and digital resources.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to students as part of a supportive and inclusive school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree that includes French or equivalent experience as a heritage speaker with a relevant degree.
  • Experience teaching French in either the state or independent sector, or a graduate with strong enthusiasm for language education.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach GCSE and A Level French courses.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching German or another language.
  • Experience with digital teaching tools and resources.
  • Experience leading or participating in school trips and exchanges.
  • Experience with extracurricular activities that promote language learning and cultural engagement.
