The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Functional Skills Tutor with SEN experience to provide high-quality support to students in Ashford. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students' lives while working with a reputable and award-winning agency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and effective Functional Skills tuition tailored to the needs of students with SEN
  • Develop individual learning plans that support both academic and personal growth
  • Communicate regularly with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure a consistent approach
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to stakeholders
  • Implement the Bright Heart Approach, focusing on building trust, self-esteem, and confidence
  • Adhere to strict safeguarding and child protection policies
  • Attend ongoing training and professional development sessions
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of student progress and activities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 12 months of relevant tutoring and/or teaching experience in the UK
  • Strong subject knowledge in Functional Skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Current Enhanced DBS certificate with a check of the children’s barred list
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN)
  • A university qualification or currently studying towards one

Preferred

  • Experience with students with severe SEN
  • Previous experience with the Bright Heart Approach or similar student-centred methods
  • Experience with online and in-person tutoring
  • Familiarity with study techniques and transition into adulthood support
