Functional Skills Tutor needed in Ascot with experience in SEN education.

The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Functional Skills Tutor to work with students in Ascot. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of learners with special educational needs, while enjoying the flexibility of self-employment and competitive tutoring rates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality Functional Skills tuition to students in Ascot
- Support students with special educational needs (SEN) through a student-centred approach
- Build trust, self-esteem, and self-belief in learners
- Develop individual learning plans tailored to students’ academic and SEMH needs
- Communicate effectively with parents, schools, and local authorities
- Adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies
- Attend ongoing training and professional development sessions
- Provide regular feedback and progress updates to stakeholders
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- At least 12 months of relevant tutoring and/or teaching experience in the UK
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Strong subject knowledge in Functional Skills
- A university qualification or currently studying towards one
- A current Enhanced DBS certificate with a check of the children’s barred list
- Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN)
- Passion for teaching and supporting learners with SEN
Preferred
- Experience with the Bright Heart Approach
- Previous experience in SEN tuition or teaching
- Familiarity with study techniques and transition into adulthood support
- Experience with online and in-person tutoring
