Functional Skills Tutor needed in Ascot with experience in SEN education.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Functional Skills Tutor to work with students in Ascot. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of learners with special educational needs, while enjoying the flexibility of self-employment and competitive tutoring rates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Functional Skills tuition to students in Ascot
  • Support students with special educational needs (SEN) through a student-centred approach
  • Build trust, self-esteem, and self-belief in learners
  • Develop individual learning plans tailored to students’ academic and SEMH needs
  • Communicate effectively with parents, schools, and local authorities
  • Adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies
  • Attend ongoing training and professional development sessions
  • Provide regular feedback and progress updates to stakeholders

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 12 months of relevant tutoring and/or teaching experience in the UK
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Strong subject knowledge in Functional Skills
  • A university qualification or currently studying towards one
  • A current Enhanced DBS certificate with a check of the children’s barred list
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN)
  • Passion for teaching and supporting learners with SEN

Preferred

  • Experience with the Bright Heart Approach
  • Previous experience in SEN tuition or teaching
  • Familiarity with study techniques and transition into adulthood support
  • Experience with online and in-person tutoring
