The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced GCSE Maths and English Tutor to work with students in the Surrey area, including Woking. This role requires strong SEN experience and excellent communication skills. As a tutor, you will make a meaningful impact on students' lives through personalized and supportive teaching.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality GCSE Maths and English tuition to students with special educational needs
- Apply the Bright Heart Approach to build trust, self-esteem, and academic confidence
- Develop and implement individual learning plans tailored to each student's needs
- Communicate regularly with parents, schools, and other stakeholders to support student progress
- Attend ongoing training and professional development sessions to enhance teaching methods
- Ensure all safeguarding and child protection policies are followed at all times
- Provide feedback and progress reports to parents and the school team
- Collaborate with education consultants to maintain high standards of teaching and support
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- At least 12 months of relevant tutoring or teaching experience in the UK
- Strong subject knowledge in GCSE Maths and English
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Valid Enhanced DBS certificate with a check of the children’s barred list
- Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN)
- Current UK work permit or right to work in the UK
- 2 relevant professional references and a parent reference
Preferred
- Experience with the Bright Heart Approach or similar student-centred teaching methods
- Previous experience with students with severe SEN
- Familiarity with online and in-person tutoring platforms
- Experience with study techniques and life skills development
- A university qualification or currently studying towards one
