The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced GCSE Maths Tutor to work with students in the Streatham Vale area. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students' lives, particularly those with special educational needs. Evening availability is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, one-to-one GCSE Maths tuition to students in the Streatham Vale area
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the individual learning needs of students with special educational needs
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and the Bright Heart team
  • Follow the Bright Heart Approach, focusing on building trust, self-esteem, and academic progress
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and feedback
  • Attend training sessions and safeguarding workshops provided by Bright Heart
  • Support students in developing confidence and motivation for learning
  • Work independently and as part of a team to ensure consistent delivery of tutoring services

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 12 months of relevant tutoring or teaching experience in the UK
  • Strong subject knowledge in GCSE Maths
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN)
  • Current Enhanced DBS certificate with a check of the children’s barred list
  • 2 relevant professional references and a parent reference

Preferred

  • Experience with the Bright Heart Approach or similar student-centred teaching methods
  • Familiarity with individual learning plans (ILPs)
  • Experience with online or in-person tutoring
  • Passion for working with students with special educational needs
  • Knowledge of study techniques and transition support for students
