The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced GCSE Maths Tutor to work with students in the Streatham Vale area. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students with special educational needs, while working with a respected and award-winning tutoring agency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, one-to-one GCSE Maths tuition to students in the Streatham Vale area
- Apply the Bright Heart Approach to support students with special educational needs
- Build trust, confidence, and self-belief in students through a warm and nurturing style
- Develop and implement individual learning plans tailored to each student’s needs
- Communicate regularly with parents and educational professionals to track progress
- Attend training sessions and safeguarding workshops to ensure best practices
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and session notes
- Provide feedback to the agency on student engagement and learning outcomes
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- At least 12 months of relevant tutoring and/or teaching experience in the UK
- Strong subject knowledge in Maths
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Valid UK-based Enhanced DBS certificate with children’s barred list check
- Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN)
- University qualification or currently studying towards one, along with A-levels
- Passion for teaching and supporting students with SEN
Preferred
- Experience with the National Tutoring Programme (NTP)
- Familiarity with individual learning plans (ILPs)
- Experience with online tutoring platforms
- Previous experience with students lacking confidence or motivation
- Ability to work evenings and flexible hours
