The Opportunity:
As a Geography Subject Lead, you will lead and inspire the Geography department, contributing to the school’s vision of academic excellence and student growth. This is a key role in shaping the curriculum and driving improvement across the Humanities team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Geography department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
- Support and mentor Geography teachers to enhance departmental performance and student outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with the Humanities team to deliver a cohesive and impactful curriculum.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
- Contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives and strategic planning.
- Stay up to date with current developments in Geography education and curriculum innovation.
- Represent the department in meetings and external events.
- Ensure all teaching and learning practices align with the school’s values and vision.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Geography at Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Proven leadership experience within a school department.
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Geography education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience of working within a Multi Academy Trust.
- Leadership experience in curriculum development.
- Experience with GCSE and A Level Geography.
- Experience in driving departmental improvement and staff development.
