The Opportunity:

As a Geography Subject Lead, you will lead and inspire the Geography department, contributing to the school’s vision of academic excellence and student growth. This is a key role in shaping the curriculum and driving improvement across the Humanities team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Geography department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Support and mentor Geography teachers to enhance departmental performance and student outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with the Humanities team to deliver a cohesive and impactful curriculum.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Stay up to date with current developments in Geography education and curriculum innovation.
  • Represent the department in meetings and external events.
  • Ensure all teaching and learning practices align with the school’s values and vision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Geography at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Proven leadership experience within a school department.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Geography education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience of working within a Multi Academy Trust.
  • Leadership experience in curriculum development.
  • Experience with GCSE and A Level Geography.
  • Experience in driving departmental improvement and staff development.
