The Opportunity:
A Girls' Housemistress / Housemaster is sought to lead a vibrant girls’ house, supporting the holistic development of approximately 65 pupils. This role combines pastoral care, leadership, and academic contribution, making it a unique and impactful opportunity for an experienced and passionate professional.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive pastoral care and support for the welfare, academic progress, and personal development of all pupils in the house.
- Lead and manage a team of house staff, ensuring a positive and inclusive house community.
- Oversee the smooth running of the house, including administrative duties such as record-keeping, meeting attendance, and financial management.
- Contribute to the academic life of the school by teaching at GCSE and/or A Level, with a reduced timetable.
- Foster a strong sense of community and ensure pupils are well integrated into both the house and school environment.
- Prepare students for life beyond school through guidance, mentorship, and support.
- Promote the school’s ethos and values within the house and across the school community.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A good honours degree and appropriate teaching qualifications.
- Proven experience as an excellent teacher with in-depth subject knowledge.
- Strong organisational, leadership, and administrative skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a busy boarding house and support student welfare.
- Commitment to the ethos and values of a full boarding school.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching at GCSE and/or A Level.
- Background in pastoral care or student leadership roles.
- Knowledge of co-curricular activities and school life.
- Experience in a similar role within a leading independent school.
