The Opportunity:

A Girls' Housemistress / Housemaster is sought to lead a vibrant girls’ house, supporting the holistic development of approximately 65 pupils. This role combines pastoral care, leadership, and academic contribution, making it a unique and impactful opportunity for an experienced and passionate professional.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive pastoral care and support for the welfare, academic progress, and personal development of all pupils in the house.
  • Lead and manage a team of house staff, ensuring a positive and inclusive house community.
  • Oversee the smooth running of the house, including administrative duties such as record-keeping, meeting attendance, and financial management.
  • Contribute to the academic life of the school by teaching at GCSE and/or A Level, with a reduced timetable.
  • Foster a strong sense of community and ensure pupils are well integrated into both the house and school environment.
  • Prepare students for life beyond school through guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Promote the school’s ethos and values within the house and across the school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good honours degree and appropriate teaching qualifications.
  • Proven experience as an excellent teacher with in-depth subject knowledge.
  • Strong organisational, leadership, and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a busy boarding house and support student welfare.
  • Commitment to the ethos and values of a full boarding school.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching at GCSE and/or A Level.
  • Background in pastoral care or student leadership roles.
  • Knowledge of co-curricular activities and school life.
  • Experience in a similar role within a leading independent school.
