The Opportunity:

As a Governance Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and compliant operation of the Governing Body. This position supports strategic decision-making, maintains accurate records, and ensures legal compliance, making it an essential role for the school's governance framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the administrative functions of the Governing Body, ensuring all statutory duties are met.
  • Advise on governance procedures and support the effective operation of meetings.
  • Prepare and distribute agendas, take minutes, and maintain accurate records of all board meetings.
  • Provide independent advice on governance matters and ensure compliance with legal frameworks.
  • Support the Governing Body in strategic decision-making and continuous improvement of governance practices.
  • Maintain board information, membership records, and training documentation.
  • Keep governors informed on key issues, priorities, and best practices.
  • Ensure all meetings, both calendared and ad hoc, are effectively managed and documented.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in governance administration or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of governance procedures and legal compliance.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prepare clear and accurate minutes and documentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in managing meetings and records.

Preferred

  • Experience in education or a similar sector.
  • Familiarity with school governance frameworks.
  • Experience with statutory compliance in educational institutions.
  • Knowledge of the legal requirements for school governing bodies.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly rate of £17.84.
