The Opportunity:
As a Governance Professional, you will provide essential administrative and strategic support to the Board of Directors. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the evolving governance structure of a well-established school. Your work will directly influence the effective and compliant operation of the Board, making a meaningful contribution to the institution's success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Board of Directors by arranging and preparing for meetings, collating and distributing relevant documents.
- Facilitate efficient and effective governance meetings, recording minutes that capture decisions, actions, and challenges accurately.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, Trust policies, and company and charity law in all governance matters.
- Coordinate the induction and training of new governors, supporting succession planning and recruitment based on required skills.
- Draft complex correspondence on behalf of the Directors and Senior Leadership Team.
- Serve as Company Secretary, ensuring all statutory and governance requirements are met.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- High level of confidentiality and discretion.
- Proficiency in using ICT and relevant software.
- Experience in governance, administrative support, or related fields.
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting.
- Knowledge of company and charity law.
- Experience in minute-taking or corporate secretarial duties.
- Familiarity with governance frameworks and procedures.
