The Opportunity:

As a Governance Professional, you will provide essential administrative and strategic support to the Board of Directors. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the evolving governance structure of a well-established school. Your work will directly influence the effective and compliant operation of the Board, making a meaningful contribution to the institution's success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Board of Directors by arranging and preparing for meetings, collating and distributing relevant documents.
  • Facilitate efficient and effective governance meetings, recording minutes that capture decisions, actions, and challenges accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, Trust policies, and company and charity law in all governance matters.
  • Coordinate the induction and training of new governors, supporting succession planning and recruitment based on required skills.
  • Draft complex correspondence on behalf of the Directors and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Serve as Company Secretary, ensuring all statutory and governance requirements are met.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Proficiency in using ICT and relevant software.
  • Experience in governance, administrative support, or related fields.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of company and charity law.
  • Experience in minute-taking or corporate secretarial duties.
  • Familiarity with governance frameworks and procedures.
