The Opportunity:

Join a dynamic Music Department as a Graduate Assistant Teacher of Music, helping to shape the musical development of students across a wide range of disciplines. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of music lessons across all levels, including composition, music technology, aural, sight-singing, and theory.
  • Support students in developing their musical skills and confidence through individual and group instruction.
  • Contribute to the life of the Music Department by participating in ensembles, performances, and extra-curricular music activities.
  • Act as a resident tutor and provide pastoral support to students in a boarding house setting.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to plan and deliver a high-quality, engaging music curriculum.
  • Help maintain and develop the school’s strong music programme through innovative teaching and performance opportunities.
  • Provide accompaniment for ensembles, rehearsals, and performances.
  • Assist in the organisation of music-related events and competitions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A university degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong musical ability, particularly in piano performance and accompaniment.
  • A genuine passion for music education and a commitment to developing students’ musical talents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to live in a boarding house and provide pastoral support to students.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or assisting with music education.
  • Experience with composition or music technology.
  • Previous experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of musical styles and genres.
