The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Grounds Maintenance Technician to ensure the upkeep of external school areas, contributing to a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students and staff. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the school’s facilities and supporting the overall mission of the institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain grass, hedges, and external areas to a high standard, including mowing, strimming, and weed control.
- Keep the site clean and safe by clearing litter, leaves, gutters, and drains.
- Maintain and coordinate servicing and repairs of equipment as needed.
- Support pest control and adhere to wildlife and safety regulations.
- Assist with seasonal tasks such as gritting in winter.
- Carry out basic repairs and upkeep of fences and external features.
- Support the wider maintenance team with general site duties, including painting and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and COSHH regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience of maintaining grounds in a similar role is essential.
- Understanding of safe working principles and Health and Safety legislation.
- Knowledge of COSHH – safe use of chemicals.
- Ability to work well in a team and on own initiative.
- Demonstrable attention to detail and pride in work.
- Organised and able to prioritise workload.
- Ability to recognise the need for confidentiality.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred
- Experience with pest control and wildlife regulations.
- Experience with seasonal maintenance tasks such as gritting.
- Experience with basic repairs and upkeep of external features.
- Experience with painting and general site repairs.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive hourly rate: £12.87 - £14.43 per hour.
- Full-time permanent position with 40 hours per week.
