The Opportunity:
As the Head of Art and Photography, you will lead a successful and enthusiastic department dedicated to fostering creativity and innovation. This role is ideal for an imaginative and dedicated leader who is passionate about art and photography and committed to continuous improvement. You will play a key role in shaping the department's vision and supporting students at all levels, including A-level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Art and Photography department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement a forward-thinking curriculum that inspires creativity and innovation.
- Support and mentor departmental staff to enhance teaching standards and student outcomes.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school and Education South West to share resources and expertise.
- Teach across all year groups, including A-level, maintaining a high standard of delivery.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
- Monitor and evaluate departmental performance to ensure continuous improvement.
- Represent the department at school-level meetings and events.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a similar role within a school or educational setting.
- A strong background in teaching Art and Photography at all key stages, including A-level.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and child protection, with willingness to undergo appropriate checks.
- A passion for the subject and a desire to contribute to school improvement.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
- Familiarity with Education South West and its collaborative initiatives.
- Experience in leading departmental teams and fostering a positive departmental culture.
- Knowledge of evidence-based teaching practices and research-informed approaches.
