The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and visionary Head of Art, Design & Technology to lead a dynamic department within a thriving, forward-thinking school. This role offers the opportunity to shape the creative curriculum and inspire students to explore their potential through art, design, and technology. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development of the Senior School, ensuring a seamless and high-quality educational experience for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Art, Design & Technology department, ensuring a high standard of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a creative, inspiring curriculum that aligns with the school’s vision and educational standards.
  • Support and mentor staff within the department, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate cross-curricular themes and enhance student learning.
  • Promote student engagement and achievement through extracurricular activities, exhibitions, and competitions.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Work closely with parents and the wider school community to promote the value of creativity and design in education.
  • Oversee the management and development of resources, facilities, and equipment within the department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a department in an educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Art, Design & Technology.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and students.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a school.
  • Familiarity with teaching in a co-educational environment.
  • Experience with the use of modern design and technology tools in education.
  • Background in a school with a strong focus on holistic education and student well-being.
