Head of Art required to lead and inspire creative learning at a school committed to student success.

The Opportunity:

As the Head of Art, you will lead the delivery of a high-quality art curriculum across the school, ensuring that all students have access to creative learning experiences. This role is ideal for someone passionate about inspiring young people and committed to driving academic and personal growth through the arts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and monitor the delivery of the art curriculum across the school, ensuring it meets high standards.
  • Support and develop teaching staff in the art department to improve classroom practice and student outcomes.
  • Implement creative teaching strategies to engage students and address educational disadvantage.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align the art program with the school’s strategic vision.
  • Ensure effective assessment and monitoring of student progress in art.
  • Collaborate with other subject leaders to promote a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Manage resources and budgets related to the art department.
  • Represent the school at external events and contribute to the wider community through art initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching art at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Proven track record as a consistently good practitioner.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with experience in a senior teaching role.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.
  • Commitment to student welfare and inclusion.

Preferred

  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
  • Background in supporting students with complex needs or those who have been out of education.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
