The Opportunity:

As the Head of Art, you will lead and inspire a creative department that plays a central role in the school’s curriculum. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the art department, ensuring a high-quality and engaging curriculum.
  • Develop and deliver art lessons from Nursery through to Year 8 in a specialist facility.
  • Promote the subject across the school with staff, parents, and pupils.
  • Support and mentor art teachers, providing professional development and guidance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate art into cross-curricular projects.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, ensuring alignment with school standards.
  • Organize and lead extracurricular art activities and events.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in art education.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Passion for inspiring students and promoting the creative arts.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership role within a school setting.
  • Familiarity with the Common Entrance programme.
  • Experience with teaching art to students aged 2 to 13.
  • Knowledge of art techniques and materials.
  • Commitment to inclusive and innovative teaching practices.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Part-time position (24 hours per week, 3 days, with potential to increase to 4 days).
  • Salary range: £32,000 to £42,000, depending on experience.
  • Small class sizes (maximum 18, average 15).
