The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Biology department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a challenging and engaging curriculum aligned with the International Baccalaureate.
  • Promote Biology through co-curricular activities and outreach initiatives.
  • Support and mentor colleagues within the department, fostering a positive and collaborative team spirit.
  • Maintain strong pastoral care and ensure the well-being of students.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the subject and incorporate innovative teaching methods.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance the overall educational experience.
  • Represent the school at relevant events and contribute to the wider academic community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Honours degree in Biology or a related subject.
  • Proven experience as a classroom practitioner with a strong track record in teaching and leadership.
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to pastoral care and co-curricular involvement.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students and colleagues.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Background in teaching the International Baccalaureate.
  • Involvement in professional development initiatives or educational research.
  • Experience with outreach or community engagement activities.
