Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Biology department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
- Oversee curriculum development and ensure alignment with school and national standards.
- Monitor and improve student performance through data-informed teaching practices.
- Support and develop departmental staff through professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with other departments to contribute to whole-school priorities and initiatives.
- Manage resources and ensure effective use of facilities and equipment.
- Promote a positive and inclusive departmental culture that encourages innovation and excellence.
- Prepare and implement assessment strategies to support student progress and outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Biology at the secondary level.
- Proven leadership experience in a school department.
- Strong track record in improving student outcomes and academic performance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment design.
- Familiarity with teaching in a co-educational and all-through school setting.
- Experience in leading departmental initiatives and staff training.
- Knowledge of STEM education and its integration into the curriculum.
