The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Biology department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Oversee curriculum development and ensure alignment with school and national standards.
  • Monitor and improve student performance through data-informed teaching practices.
  • Support and develop departmental staff through professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to contribute to whole-school priorities and initiatives.
  • Manage resources and ensure effective use of facilities and equipment.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive departmental culture that encourages innovation and excellence.
  • Prepare and implement assessment strategies to support student progress and outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Biology at the secondary level.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school department.
  • Strong track record in improving student outcomes and academic performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment design.
  • Familiarity with teaching in a co-educational and all-through school setting.
  • Experience in leading departmental initiatives and staff training.
  • Knowledge of STEM education and its integration into the curriculum.
