The Opportunity:

As the Head of Boarding, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of students through strategic leadership, pastoral care, and community development. This is a senior leadership role that requires a deep commitment to student welfare, operational management, and the promotion of a positive boarding experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the boarding program that aligns with the school's mission and educational objectives.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, development, and performance management of house staff and residential team members.
  • Ensure all boarding policies, including those related to safeguarding and student welfare, are robust, reviewed regularly, and consistently followed.
  • Manage the boarding budget and oversee the equitable allocation of resources across all houses.
  • Act as the primary caregiver for all boarding students, creating a supportive, structured, and homely environment.
  • Monitor the holistic wellbeing of boarders, with a special focus on academic, social, physical, and emotional aspects.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive boarding community that nurtures leadership, confidence, and personal growth.
  • Uphold the highest health and safety standards in all boarding facilities, working closely with medical and operational staff.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in senior leadership within a boarding or residential setting.
  • Strong background in student welfare, pastoral care, and safeguarding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures.

Preferred

  • Experience in international or multicultural educational environments.
  • Background in academic support and co-curricular program development.
  • Familiarity with British boarding traditions and values.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with parents, students, and staff.
