Head of Business and Economics role available from August 2026.

The Opportunity:

As the Head of Business and Economics, you will lead the department in delivering high-quality education and fostering leadership and entrepreneurial skills through the co-curricular programme. This is a key leadership role with a significant impact on student outcomes and departmental direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Business Management and Economics Department to ensure academic excellence and innovation.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that aligns with the school’s educational goals and student needs.
  • Promote and support co-curricular activities that enhance student leadership and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate business and economics into wider school initiatives.
  • Provide professional development and mentorship for departmental staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring consistent academic standards and outcomes.
  • Represent the department in school-wide meetings and events.
  • Engage with the school community to build strong relationships and support departmental initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching and leadership within a school environment.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Business and Economics.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a department effectively.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Commitment to co-curricular engagement and student leadership development.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a school.
  • Familiarity with Scottish and English examination systems.
  • Experience in developing and delivering entrepreneurial and leadership programmes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
