Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Chemistry department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Deliver lessons up to Oxbridge entrance level, including A level and IGCSE specifications.
- Oversee the development and updating of schemes of work to reflect syllabus changes.
- Coordinate departmental meetings and supervise the work of laboratory technicians.
- Collaborate with Heads of Physics and Biology on Science Department policy and curriculum planning.
- Support students through revision classes, surgeries, and additional academic guidance.
- Encourage student participation in science competitions and events.
- Attend CPD, examination feedback meetings, and conferences to stay current with developments in the field.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Chemistry education at secondary level.
- Proven leadership experience within a school department.
- Strong subject knowledge in Chemistry, including A level and IGCSE specifications.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team of teachers and support staff.
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
Preferred
- Experience in preparing students for Oxbridge and other top university applications.
- Familiarity with Science Live and other science outreach initiatives.
- Experience in organizing and leading departmental events and competitions.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
