The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Classics to lead and inspire students in a school committed to educational excellence. This role offers the opportunity to shape the curriculum and make a lasting impact on young minds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Classics department, ensuring a high-quality and engaging curriculum.
  • Develop and deliver innovative teaching strategies that support student achievement and interest in the subject.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance cross-curricular learning and student outcomes.
  • Support the personal and professional development of teaching staff within the department.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Promote the value of Classics within the school and wider community through events and outreach.
  • Work closely with parents and students to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the Senior School and its academic vision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in Classics.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting, preferably in a senior or middle leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver a successful curriculum.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a co-educational school environment.
  • Familiarity with independent school standards and practices.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of new academic initiatives.
