Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Computer Science Department, including teaching staff.
  • Develop and implement the department’s curriculum, policies, and strategic plans.
  • Evaluate teaching quality and student achievement, setting clear targets for improvement.
  • Ensure the development of students’ literacy, numeracy, and IT skills through the department.
  • Manage the department’s budget and resources efficiently to maximize value for money.
  • Promote a culture of continuous professional development for staff.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities.
  • Support the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Computer Science.
  • Experience in curriculum development and departmental management.
  • Ability to evaluate and improve teaching standards.
  • Experience in managing budgets and resources effectively.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department to achieve outstanding Ofsted ratings.
  • Experience with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs.
  • Familiarity with the Leathersellers’ Federation of Schools.
  • Experience in teaching and assessing students in a mixed 6th Form environment.
