Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Computer Science Department, including teaching staff.
- Develop and implement the department’s curriculum, policies, and strategic plans.
- Evaluate teaching quality and student achievement, setting clear targets for improvement.
- Ensure the development of students’ literacy, numeracy, and IT skills through the department.
- Manage the department’s budget and resources efficiently to maximize value for money.
- Promote a culture of continuous professional development for staff.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide priorities.
- Support the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
- Strong subject knowledge in Computer Science.
- Experience in curriculum development and departmental management.
- Ability to evaluate and improve teaching standards.
- Experience in managing budgets and resources effectively.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department to achieve outstanding Ofsted ratings.
- Experience with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs.
- Familiarity with the Leathersellers’ Federation of Schools.
- Experience in teaching and assessing students in a mixed 6th Form environment.
