The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Head of Computer Science to lead and shape the future of this dynamic and rapidly evolving subject area. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing a curriculum that prepares students for both academic success and the digital challenges of the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a high-quality Computer Science curriculum across KS3–KS5, ensuring strong academic outcomes and digital literacy.
  • Embed emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, data, and digital ethics into teaching and learning.
  • Support pupils in achieving excellent results in public examinations and foster a passion for computing.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to innovate and enrich the computing department's profile within the school.
  • Manage a team of four colleagues and oversee the use of dedicated computing classrooms.
  • Promote and support pupil-led initiatives such as the Computing Society and competitions like the British Informatics Olympiad.
  • Contribute to whole-school thinking about digital education and ensure alignment with the school’s values and ambitions.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to both students and staff within the department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching Computer Science at KS3–KS5 level.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with experience in subject leadership.
  • Excellent classroom practice and a track record of delivering high academic outcomes.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and their integration into the curriculum.
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading curriculum innovation and enrichment programs.
  • Familiarity with AI, data science, and digital responsibility.
  • Experience in extracurricular computing activities or competitions.
  • Background in pastoral or whole-school leadership.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of £40,794 to £56,160.
