As the Head of Computer Science, you will lead a dynamic team and shape the future of digital education. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire the Computer Science department, ensuring a clear vision and direction.
  • Implement whole-Academy initiatives to improve student outcomes and department performance.
  • Develop and manage the department’s curriculum, syllabuses, and resources.
  • Oversee the budget, resources, and performance management of departmental staff.
  • Promote high standards of teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Support the delivery of the GCSE Computer Science (OCR Specification) and Key Stage 3 curriculum.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning.
  • Work closely with trust Subject Directors and utilise specialist facilities and resources.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related subject.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience in leading or supporting the leadership of a department.
  • Strong knowledge of the secondary curriculum (Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5).
  • Understanding of school improvement and Ofsted inspection processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead new initiatives.
  • Excellent classroom practice and a clear vision for teaching and learning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with students and staff.

Preferred

  • Experience in Computer Science education and digital innovation.
  • Familiarity with the latest teaching methods and technologies.
  • Experience with extracurricular programmes, such as e-Sports or coding clubs.
  • Leadership experience in a school or academy setting.
