The Opportunity:

As the Head of Computing, you will lead the development of a high-quality computing curriculum for students aged 5 to 11, ensuring it promotes digital literacy, computational thinking, and responsible use of technology. This role is ideal for an experienced educator passionate about preparing students for the modern world through innovative and inclusive teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver a high-quality computing curriculum from Year 1 to Year 6.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistent standards of teaching and learning in computing.
  • Develop and implement engaging programmes that promote creativity, problem-solving, and digital citizenship.
  • Support and mentor other computing practitioners within the school.
  • Ensure a ‘Computing for All’ approach that is inclusive and accessible to all students.
  • Stay up to date with developments in computing education and technology.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in computing teaching.
  • Monitor and assess student progress in computing to ensure effective learning outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in computing or a related subject.
  • Proven leadership experience in a teaching or educational role.
  • Strong knowledge of computing curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Experience in developing and delivering computing lessons for primary-aged students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a computing department or team.
  • Familiarity with programming, digital literacy, and computational thinking.
  • Experience with inclusive teaching strategies and differentiated instruction.
  • Passion for technology and its role in education.
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods and digital tools.
