The Opportunity:

As the Head of Creative and Performing Arts Department, you will lead a team of educators in delivering a high-quality, inclusive curriculum that supports students with diverse learning needs. This role is ideal for a dynamic, qualified teacher who is passionate about driving excellence in the arts and ensuring all students have the opportunity to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the development and implementation of arts-related curriculums across the provision.
  • Ensure the achievement and progression of students through effective teaching, assessment, and moderation practices.
  • Manage and support departmental staff, including conducting lesson observations, reviews, and timetable planning.
  • Coordinate and monitor the registration, assessment, and moderation of Arts-related qualifications.
  • Collaborate with parents, students, and other staff to support the holistic development of learners.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and academic outcomes.
  • Stay current with curriculum changes and ensure alignment with examination specifications and standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or significant teaching experience.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Art, Drama, Music, Design & Technology, Textiles, or Food Technology at GCSE and A-Level.
  • Previous experience in curriculum management and leadership roles.
  • Ability to manage and support a team of teachers and practitioners.

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Proven experience in exams and curriculum moderation.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and inclusive education practices.
