The Opportunity:
The Head of Creative Arts and Design Technology will lead a dynamic department, shaping student outcomes and fostering a passion for creative and design disciplines. This role is ideal for an experienced leader who is committed to excellence in teaching and the school’s sustainability vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Art, Textiles, Food Technology, and Resistant Materials department across KS3, KS4, and KS5.
- Develop and review the Design Technology curriculum and schemes of work in line with the National Curriculum.
- Deliver high-quality teaching that promotes challenge, pace, and thinking skills to support students in achieving outstanding results.
- Ensure a safe, stimulating, and well-ordered learning environment that celebrates student achievement.
- Promote the school’s vision, mission, and values through teaching and leadership practices.
- Support safeguarding and welfare of students in accordance with the school’s policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Native-level English language skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design Technology or similar, with a PGCE in Education with QTS or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years teaching Design and Technology in the UK or a reputable British school overseas.
- Proven track record of outstanding GCSE and/or A Level examination results.
- Experience teaching across GCSE/iGCSE and A Level/BTEC.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Familiarity with project-based and experiential learning approaches.
- Strong understanding of ecological and sustainability education principles.
