The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Dance and Drama to lead and inspire our creative programs. This role is central to shaping a dynamic arts curriculum that supports the holistic development of students. The successful candidate will contribute to a school committed to excellence in education and creative learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a high-quality dance and drama curriculum that aligns with the school's educational vision.
  • Lead a team of teaching staff, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a creative and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and artistic expression.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate drama and dance into cross-curricular activities and events.
  • Manage resources, budgets, and facilities related to the dance and drama programs.
  • Promote extracurricular activities and performances that enhance the school’s cultural and creative profile.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during all arts-related activities.
  • Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of programs, continuously improving teaching and learning outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading and managing dance and drama programs in an educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in dance and drama, with the ability to teach across all key stages.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students and staff.
  • A relevant teaching qualification and current teaching license.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school with a strong focus on creative and performing arts.
  • Knowledge of drama and dance in the context of a co-educational environment.
  • Experience with inclusive education practices and supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
