The Opportunity:
As the Head of Design and Technology, you will lead and inspire a growing department, delivering innovative and engaging lessons that challenge and motivate students of all abilities. This role is central to shaping the future of the Design curriculum and driving departmental excellence across all key stages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Design and Technology department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
- Deliver engaging, inclusive, and challenging lessons across all key stages.
- Develop and implement a dynamic curriculum that promotes creativity and technical skill.
- Support and mentor colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous professional development.
- Promote extracurricular activities, clubs, and projects that extend learning beyond the classroom.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-curricular learning and student achievement.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring consistent delivery of outstanding lessons.
- Champion the subject to students and the wider school community, inspiring enthusiasm and passion for Design and Technology.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant degree and a teaching qualification.
- Experience in teaching Design and Technology across all key stages.
- Strong leadership and management skills with a track record of departmental success.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to design and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Experience with extracurricular activities and student projects.
- Knowledge of industry-standard design and technology tools.
- Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational environment.
