The Opportunity:

As Head of Design and Technology, you will lead a dynamic and innovative department, shaping a curriculum that inspires creativity and excellence across Product Design, Textiles, Food Technology, and Computing. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence teaching and learning at all levels and to contribute to the continued development of a high-achieving faculty.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a comprehensive and engaging Design and Technology curriculum across multiple disciplines.
  • Support and mentor staff to ensure high-quality teaching and learning outcomes for all students.
  • Manage and deliver the Leiths Food course at both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, independence, and student engagement within the department.
  • Ensure the continued growth and development of the Design and Technology faculty.
  • Promote and maintain the school’s strong reputation for innovation and excellence in education.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to enhance the overall student experience.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and outcomes, implementing strategies for continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Design and Technology, including Product Design.
  • Experience teaching to GCSE and, ideally, A Level.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to lead a department.
  • Commitment to high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver a broad and balanced curriculum.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and staff training.
  • Familiarity with the Leiths Food course and its delivery at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.
  • Experience in a senior leadership role within education.
  • Knowledge of Quaker values and educational philosophy.
  • Experience in safeguarding and child protection procedures.
