Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Drama department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and deliver a dynamic, inclusive curriculum that engages students across all Key Stages.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and support continuous professional development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support to ensure all students achieve their full potential.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the department and the school’s wider educational goals.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive culture that values creativity, innovation, and student well-being.
  • Represent the department in meetings, events, and external partnerships.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of resources and facilities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Drama and a proven track record of delivering high-quality teaching.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in curriculum design and delivery.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or taking on a senior leadership role.
  • Familiarity with evidence-informed pedagogy and practitioner-led techniques.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational network.
  • Knowledge of Gifted and Talented provision and inclusive teaching strategies.
