The Opportunity:
As the Head of EAL, you will lead the development and delivery of English as an Additional Language programs, ensuring students achieve academic success and cultural integration. This role is pivotal in shaping the school’s educational excellence and fostering a supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive EAL strategy aligned with the British National Curriculum and Cambridge standards.
- Lead and support a team of EAL teachers, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with subject leaders and senior management to ensure EAL integration across the curriculum.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support for learners with diverse linguistic backgrounds.
- Promote a culture of inclusion, equity, and respect within the school community.
- Participate in extracurricular activities and school events, contributing to the overall student experience.
- Stay up to date with best practices in EAL teaching and incorporate innovative methods into instruction.
- Support the school’s mission by fostering a nurturing environment where all students can thrive.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
- A certified teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS with an Induction Certificate, or equivalent.
- Minimum two years of teaching experience, with a focus on EAL learners.
- Extensive experience in teaching the British National Curriculum and/or Cambridge syllabi.
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for fostering a pupil-focused learning environment.
- Commitment to professional growth and a collaborative approach to teaching.
- Proven track record in delivering outstanding teaching and learning outcomes.
Preferred
- International teaching experience.
- Experience working in a multicultural and inclusive environment.
- Leadership experience within an educational setting.
- Experience with curriculum development and teacher training.
