The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Economics Faculty, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Deliver a reduced teaching timetable while maintaining a strong commitment to student progress and achievement.
  • Contribute to the co-curricular and pastoral life of the school, including supporting student-led initiatives such as the Economics Society and annual Economics Conference.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies that align with the school’s academic and pastoral values.
  • Work collaboratively with a supportive team of experienced Economics teachers to enhance the curriculum and student engagement.
  • Promote the school’s academic excellence through public examinations and university admissions outcomes.
  • Support and mentor junior members of staff within the Economics Faculty.
  • Stay current with developments in Economics education and integrate them into teaching practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching Economics at both GCSE and A Level.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, ideally as a subject leader or department head.
  • Strong academic background in Economics or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the pastoral and co-curricular development of students.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate both students and colleagues.

Preferred

  • Experience in a boarding school or independent educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the UK education system and curriculum requirements.
  • Experience with student-led initiatives and extracurricular activities.
  • Strong record of student achievement and university placements.
  • Experience with modern teaching technologies and resources.
