Summary:

About the School:

A school dedicated to supporting students aged 7 to 16 with autism and/or ADHD, offering a nurturing and inclusive environment that prioritises academic achievement, emotional wellbeing, and personal development.

The Opportunity:

As the Head of Education, you will lead the development of a high-quality, inclusive curriculum and drive improvements in teaching and learning across the school. This is a strategic role that shapes the educational direction of a growing institution committed to making a meaningful impact on student lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a sequenced and progressive whole school curriculum.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of inclusive classroom management strategies and support staff development.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive assessment strategy to inform planning and adaptive teaching.
  • Manage and mentor teaching and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing school culture.
  • Implement systems for self-evaluation, lead internal reviews, and prepare for inspections.
  • Ensure alignment between educational, pastoral, and operational priorities across the school.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and reflective practice.
  • Support the development of individualised learning and therapy plans for students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in improving teaching quality and pupil outcomes.
  • Experience in leading curriculum, assessment, and school improvement.
  • Essential middle leadership experience; senior leadership experience is beneficial.
  • Strong communication, relationship building, and analytical skills.
  • Confidence in handling challenging conversations.
  • Understanding of supporting students with autism and experience with EHCP processes.

Preferred

  • Experience in SEN education settings.
  • Background in leading school improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring teaching staff.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education strategies and practices.
