Head of Engineering sought for dynamic school with new Level 3 Engineering course.

The Opportunity:

The Head of Engineering will lead the development and delivery of a new Level 3 Engineering course, shaping curriculum and resources to support student success. This is a key leadership role in a growing department, offering the chance to influence and inspire future engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Engineering department, ensuring high-quality teaching and student outcomes.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the school’s assessment policies.
  • Monitor and support student progress, intervening as needed to ensure success.
  • Contribute to the school’s Quality Assurance Cycle and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Computing and Physics staff to support the new Engineering programme.
  • Promote the subject and ensure the department reflects the school’s values and ethos.
  • Manage resources and plan for departmental growth as the Engineering provision expands.
  • Maintain high standards of teaching, leadership, and student engagement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant degree and teaching qualification.
  • Proven ability to manage learning and deliver student-centred teaching.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in curriculum design and resource development.
  • Commitment to the Catholic ethos and equality/diversity principles.
  • High level of organisational and administrative skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in Engineering or related subjects.
  • Background in teaching at the Sixth Form level.
  • Familiarity with Level 3 qualifications and vocational pathways.
  • Leadership experience in a school or college setting.
