The Opportunity:
The Head of Engineering will lead the development and delivery of a new Level 3 Engineering course, shaping curriculum and resources to support student success. This is a key leadership role in a growing department, offering the chance to influence and inspire future engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Engineering department, ensuring high-quality teaching and student outcomes.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the school’s assessment policies.
- Monitor and support student progress, intervening as needed to ensure success.
- Contribute to the school’s Quality Assurance Cycle and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Computing and Physics staff to support the new Engineering programme.
- Promote the subject and ensure the department reflects the school’s values and ethos.
- Manage resources and plan for departmental growth as the Engineering provision expands.
- Maintain high standards of teaching, leadership, and student engagement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant degree and teaching qualification.
- Proven ability to manage learning and deliver student-centred teaching.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in curriculum design and resource development.
- Commitment to the Catholic ethos and equality/diversity principles.
- High level of organisational and administrative skills.
Preferred
- Experience in Engineering or related subjects.
- Background in teaching at the Sixth Form level.
- Familiarity with Level 3 qualifications and vocational pathways.
- Leadership experience in a school or college setting.
