The Opportunity:
As the Head of English and MFL, you will lead the language faculty, ensuring excellence in teaching and learning across IGCSE and IB DP programs. This role is ideal for a passionate educator who wants to shape confident, articulate, and culturally aware learners in a dynamic, international environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and academic leadership to the English and MFL departments.
- Ensure high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across IGCSE and IB DP programs.
- Develop and implement innovative curriculum strategies for English, ESL, and Modern Foreign Languages.
- Support and mentor teaching staff to enhance pedagogical practices and student outcomes.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the school’s educational vision.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and progress.
- Monitor and analyze student performance data to inform teaching and learning strategies.
- Promote cultural awareness and language proficiency across the school community.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
- Strong academic background in English or Modern Foreign Languages
- 7+ years of post-qualification teaching experience, including IGCSE EAL
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high levels of student progress across a range of EAL learners
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment
- Ability to work effectively in a dual language immersion and multicultural environment
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Preferred
- Experience with IBDP programs
- Formal EAL qualification (e.g., CELTA/DELTA)
- Experience in a school with a co-curricular and pastoral focus
- Proficiency in multiple languages (e.g., French, Spanish)
