The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Head of English Department to join a newly opened, growing school with a strong academic reputation. This role offers the opportunity to lead and inspire a team of passionate educators, delivering a high-quality English curriculum and shaping the future of student learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the English department, ensuring consistent delivery of a high-quality curriculum.
- Work closely with the Head of English to drive departmental excellence and student achievement.
- Develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies across all key stages.
- Support the professional development of departmental staff and encourage collaboration.
- Oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of English lessons across the school.
- Promote a vibrant extracurricular programme in English, including drama, literature, and creative writing.
- Monitor and report on student progress, attainment, and achievement in English.
- Contribute to the wider school community and support the school’s vision and values.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a strong subject knowledge in English.
- Proven leadership experience in a school department.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to student success and a passion for teaching.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Experience with extracurricular activities in English.
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL).
- Experience with data analysis and student progress tracking.
