Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the English department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement evidence-informed pedagogical strategies across the curriculum.
  • Support and mentor colleagues to enhance professional practice and student achievement.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, identifying areas for development and intervention.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to improve school-wide standards and outcomes.
  • Promote a positive school culture and ensure consistent behavior management.
  • Organise and deliver innovative lessons that inspire students and model best practice.
  • Work with colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in English.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a teaching team.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Familiarity with the Ormiston Academies Trust and its values.
  • Experience with teaching students aged 11 to 16.
  • Strong understanding of inclusion and pastoral care.
