The Opportunity:
As the Head of English, you will lead the delivery of a challenging and well-balanced curriculum across the school, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning. Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee the planning, teaching, and resources for English across the school.
- Develop a cohesive and effective scheme of work that supports continuity and progression in learning.
- Monitor and evaluate teaching practices, providing feedback to the Senior Leadership Team to maintain academic rigor.
- Deliver stimulating and engaging lessons that meet the needs of all pupils and promote a love of learning.
- Implement school policies and ensure the accurate recording and monitoring of student progress.
- Foster a learning environment that supports the development of self-esteem and interpersonal skills.
- Ensure the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of all pupils in accordance with school policies.
- Comply with safeguarding procedures and report any concerns as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Teaching qualification and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience in teaching English across the primary age range with a proven track record of student progress
- Ability to use a variety of teaching and learning strategies
- Strong organisational and management skills
- Deep subject knowledge to challenge and support high-achieving students
- Understanding of curriculum developments in English
Preferred
- Experience in girls-only education
- Knowledge of the London Independent day school system
