Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the English curriculum for both Literature and Language up to GCSE.
- Deliver high-quality teaching to small classes of motivated and respectful students.
- Contribute to co-curricular and community activities, enhancing the school's vibrant culture.
- Support and mentor junior staff within the department.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and challenging academic experience for all students.
- Maintain a strong focus on student progress and pastoral care.
- Stay up to date with educational trends and best practices in English teaching.
- Work closely with the Headmaster and senior leadership team to achieve school objectives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a strong background in English Literature and Language.
- Proven experience in teaching up to GCSE level.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Commitment to student wellbeing and academic success.
- Ability to work effectively in a small, collaborative team.
Preferred
- Experience in a school with a strong co-curricular programme.
- Familiarity with independent school environments.
- Experience in leading a department or teaching team.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
