Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the English curriculum for both Literature and Language up to GCSE.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching to small classes of motivated and respectful students.
  • Contribute to co-curricular and community activities, enhancing the school's vibrant culture.
  • Support and mentor junior staff within the department.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and challenging academic experience for all students.
  • Maintain a strong focus on student progress and pastoral care.
  • Stay up to date with educational trends and best practices in English teaching.
  • Work closely with the Headmaster and senior leadership team to achieve school objectives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in English Literature and Language.
  • Proven experience in teaching up to GCSE level.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and academic success.
  • Ability to work effectively in a small, collaborative team.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school with a strong co-curricular programme.
  • Familiarity with independent school environments.
  • Experience in leading a department or teaching team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
