Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the English Department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all year groups
- Deliver inspiring and challenging lessons at both GCSE and A Level
- Support the co-curricular programme and encourage student engagement in English-related activities
- Promote a culture of academic excellence and mutual respect within the department
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement the curriculum
- Monitor and assess student progress, ensuring continuity and progression in learning
- Provide professional guidance and support to departmental staff
- Contribute to the school’s wider community through involvement in mentoring and co-curricular activities
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in leading a department
- Proven ability to teach English at both GCSE and A Level
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Preferred
- Experience in a co-educational or boarding school environment
- Familiarity with the use of ICT in teaching and learning
- Involvement in co-curricular or extra-curricular activities
- Experience in mentoring or staff development
