Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the English Department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all year groups
  • Deliver inspiring and challenging lessons at both GCSE and A Level
  • Support the co-curricular programme and encourage student engagement in English-related activities
  • Promote a culture of academic excellence and mutual respect within the department
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement the curriculum
  • Monitor and assess student progress, ensuring continuity and progression in learning
  • Provide professional guidance and support to departmental staff
  • Contribute to the school’s wider community through involvement in mentoring and co-curricular activities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in leading a department
  • Proven ability to teach English at both GCSE and A Level
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Preferred

  • Experience in a co-educational or boarding school environment
  • Familiarity with the use of ICT in teaching and learning
  • Involvement in co-curricular or extra-curricular activities
  • Experience in mentoring or staff development
