As the Head of English, you will lead a high-performing department and inspire students across all key stages. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the English department, ensuring continued high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance student achievement and progress in English.
  • Provide high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages, including A Level.
  • Support and mentor other members of the English department.
  • Contribute to whole school leadership and strategic priorities.
  • Promote the importance of English across the curriculum.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and successful learning environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance to inform teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in leading a department.
  • Proven track record of teaching English at all key stages up to A Level.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Experience in whole school leadership or a desire to develop into this role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in senior leadership or school management.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and innovation.
  • Experience with pastoral care or student support.
  • Familiarity with leading a successful and high-achieving department.
