The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Head of Food to lead the department and deliver an ambitious, globally minded curriculum for Key Stage 3 and 4 students. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher to take on a leadership role and make a real impact on student outcomes and career pathways in the food and hospitality industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop the Food department and its staff to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
- Deliver strong outcomes for students, particularly at GCSE level, and work with the Technology department to design an innovative Key Stage 3 curriculum.
- Monitor and evaluate teaching, assessment, and student progress to ensure continuous improvement.
- Implement and maintain school policies, including health and safety, and ensure compliance with all procedures.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the department, including the effective deployment of staff and resources.
- Support staff development and ensure high-quality schemes of work, marking policies, and assessment strategies are in place.
- Promote the department’s profile within the school and engage with external partners, including higher education and industry bodies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in delivering successful food outcomes at Key Stage 3 and 4.
- Strong leadership and management skills with experience in leading a subject area.
- Ability to develop and deliver a high-quality, broad, and relevant curriculum.
- Commitment to raising standards of student progress, especially for disadvantaged students and HAPs.
- Experience in teaching and learning strategies, including literacy and numeracy integration.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
- Background in hospitality or food industry, with the ability to inspire students towards related careers.
- Experience in staff appraisal, induction, and performance management.
- Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement planning.
