Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and innovate within the Food Technology department.
  • Set direction and plan for curriculum delivery and student learning outcomes.
  • Motivate and influence staff to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and senior leadership.
  • Ensure the curriculum aligns with school policy and national standards.
  • Manage departmental resources, budgets, and staff deployment.
  • Oversee teaching quality through lesson observations and reviews.
  • Monitor student progress and take proactive steps to improve achievement.
  • Represent the subject in events and contribute to whole-school initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Design Technology to coordinate shared activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the English national curriculum and Food Technology.
  • Experience in teaching Food Technology and Design Technology up to KS3.
  • Ability to manage and develop a team of staff.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and quality assurance.

Preferred

  • Experience with GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition.
  • Familiarity with IBDP teaching frameworks.
  • Experience in organizing curriculum enrichment and competitions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Ed Tech tools and strategies.
