The Opportunity:
As the Head of Geography, you will provide academic leadership and drive excellence in teaching and learning. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum development, support student progress, and contribute to a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Geography department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
- Deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that inspire and challenge students.
- Manage and support departmental staff through effective line management.
- Promote inclusive practice, effective assessment, and innovation in teaching methods.
- Contribute positively to the academic and pastoral life of the school.
- Support student wellbeing and academic progress through meaningful engagement and pastoral care.
- Collaborate with the Academic Director and other Heads of Department to maintain strong academic standards.
- Organise and lead educational trips, clubs, and events that enrich the student experience.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a Geography teacher with a passion for the subject.
- Strong leadership and management skills with experience in leading a department.
- Commitment to student wellbeing and academic success.
- Ability to deliver high-quality, engaging lessons.
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment strategies.
Preferred
- Experience in pastoral care or student engagement initiatives.
- Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices and innovative approaches to Geography education.
- Experience in leading or contributing to school-wide events and trips.
- Familiarity with Christian values and ethos in an educational setting.
