The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Geography to lead a thriving department and inspire students from Year 7 to A Level. This role offers the chance to shape the future of Geography education within a dynamic and collaborative academic community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Geography department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Deliver engaging and challenging Geography lessons across all key stages, including GCSE and A Level.
- Develop and implement innovative teaching methods and fieldwork opportunities, particularly at Key Stage 3.
- Use data to monitor and improve student progress and outcomes.
- Oversee departmental resources and administrative tasks effectively.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities and other duties.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of students in line with school policies and legal requirements.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A degree in Geography or a related field.
- A recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching Geography up to and including A Level.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to a pupil-centred approach and high standards of teaching.
Preferred
- Experience with current developments in pedagogy and practice.
- Proficiency in ICT, particularly with Microsoft 365 for Education.
- Involvement in curriculum development and project-based learning.
